Tips and Tricks
- When purchasing/selling items or storing/retriving items from inventory there is a quick way to enter large quantities of items. For instance, to buy 80 reds from a store you can click on the reds and then type in 80. This means you don't have to click the mouse 80 times.
- If you are walking a long distance with someone and not hunting much (From OT to Kent along beach), you can click on the person and move the mouse to the bottom of the screen before releasing. After releasing the mouse button your character will follow the other person without you having to click again and again.
- Similar to the previous tip, you can click on a monster to attack it and then drag the mouse to the bottom of the screen before releasing. After you release the button you will continue to hit the monster until you type or move the mouse or the monster is dead.
- If you are hunting with a partner and you die, you can just lie there. You are still able to chat. If you are hunting with a nice friend they may be willing to resurrect you. Note that you will still lose exp but you will still be able to hunt without having to return to town.
- If the NPC Server is rebooted, you can take your dogs out by double-clicking on their collars.
- If your dog runs off, you can always teleport to a random place or tele home and your dog will teleport with you.
- If you have lost your dog and are near a door that can be opened/closed there is a trick to get them to tele right to you. Go to the door and open it. Then close it and try to walk through. You should make it through and then your dog will tele right to you. Not sure if this is a bug but I don't see the harm in it.
- Once you are at least 32,767 lawful (alignment points) you will not drop anything equipped after you die. Once you get past 30,000 lawful you stand only a small chance of dropping items. At full law (32,767) it is very unlikely that you will drop an unequipped item, however, it CAN happen. If you are chaotic you stand a high chance of dropping something everytime you die.
- Your dogs will lose exp if they die and can also level down if they have recently leveled.
- If you are the lower level character in a hunting party the monster may attack you if you hit it, even if someone else has hit it first.
- If your dog dies, he will not drop the items he was carrying. The monster that killed it may get them but not always. Collect from them often if they are weak.
- If you restart or get disconnected your dogs will go to the kennel. Be sure to collect from them before this happens. If you don't collect from them, they can drop some of the items. Also, the items seem to disappear as your dog doesn't give them to you when he gets out of storage.
- Ala of Fairy will work the same as a Tele-Home Scroll.
- Twig of Ent will work the same as a Cure Poison Spell or Cure Poision Potion.
- Fruit of Ent will work the same as a Clear Potion.
- There is a secret tunnel that will take you to level 7 of the Main Land Caves from level 2 of the Talking Island Caves. There are crawling claws in the tunnel that will sometimes drop gloves. The passage is found on level 2 of the Talking Island Caves. Walk to the middle of the pentagon and you will enter the caves. Do the same at the end of the caves to enter level 7 of the Mainland Caves.
- To type a message three times real fast, you can type it once, press enter, and then hold down the shift key and press the up arrow. This will populate the text area with your message again. This is helpful to post something on global 3 times real fast for example.
- In order to face someone, you can hold down the ctrl key and try to attack them. This will cause you to face them. Another way to do this is to hold down the shift key and right-mouse click on the person you are wanting to face. To truly face the person, right-click on the feet of the person as this is where they are standing.
- There are certain zones in the game called Combat Zones. These are found in Doorways, at the ends of Bridges, and in a few other areas of the game. If you are in one of these areas, someone can kill you without penalty.
- Somewhat related to the previous tip, you can talk to a NPC from outside of a building. This means you don't have to walk through a Combat Zone to purchase or sell items to the NPC. The NPC's are usually close enough to the wall that this is possible.
- You are only allowed 100 items in storage. This may seem like a lot and you will never get there, but you will. When it gets full, it is usually time to sell stuff.
- You are only allowed 50 bookmarks in the game. This may seem like way too many, but I am personally out of room after bookmarking many of the locations I want. My theory is to bookmark often and you can always delete them.
- If you own and use a Scroll Mouse, the scroll mouse can be used in various spots. If the cursor is above the chat window, it will scroll up and down in the chat window. If it is anywhere else, it will cycle through your hotkeys. Once the hotkey that you desire is selected, double-click the Scroll Button it will activate the hot key.
- One way to help reduce the amount of weight that you carry while hunting is to carry eggs instead of meat. Eggs are lighter than meat and your dogs will eat them as well. Eggs can only be bought in Giran but are also dropped by Rova Orcs. You can also feed meat to hens to have them lay eggs.
